China set great store on the friendly cooperation with ASEAN, and regard ASEAN as the priority of its neighborhood diplomacy and an important part of promoting the Belt and Road. Since the China-ASEAN dialogue relationship established in 1911, with the concerted efforts of China and the ASEAN member states, the China-ASEAN relationship has become one of the most vigorous and dynamic relationships for ASEAN with its dialogue partners, with fruitful results spanning across a wide array of areas, and political mutual trust increasingly enhanced. The maritime cooperation between China and the ASEAN member states under the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea continues to foster new progress. Recently, a framework of a code of conduct in South China Sea has been set by all parties, which shows our common wish of maintaining the peace and stability of South China Sea, and creates a great environment for the cooperation between China and ASEAN. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the ASEAN-China Year of Tourism Cooperation, and next year is the 15th anniversary of China-ASEAN strategic partnership established. The China-ASEAN relationship stands at a crucial historic moment between past and future and is developing to a higher level, embracing new cooperating opportunities and broad prospects. China will enhance the connection between the Belt and Road and the development of ASEAN, and deepen practical cooperation to promote the China-ASEAN strategic partnership to a higher level, and to build a closer ASEAN-China community of shared future, by standing from the present and looking forward to the future.
