But how does the transmission across continents work technically? By ultra-high voltage transmission lines, also known as UHV, which come in the voltage range 1100-1500 kilovolts. This is our area of expertise: The UHV lines we have constructed and operate have already reached a total length of 25,000 kilometers. We are currently researching underwater UHV cables which can connect the continents over the sea. In order to realize the vision of a world power grid, we need to make progress in this area.
